St Thomas of Canterbury Catholic Primary School has two staff members who are Designated Safeguarding Leads.

The Designated Safeguarding Leads will strive to ensure that children are safe, happy and making progress. They also provide support to staff members to carry out their safeguarding duties.
The role of the school
Everyone who comes into contact with children and their families has a role to play in safeguarding children. School staff are particularly important as they are in a position to identify concerns early and provide help for children, to prevent concerns from escalating. Schools and their staff from part of the wider safeguarding system for children. This system is described in statutory guidance “Working Together to Safeguard Children 2018”. Schools work with social care, the police, health services and other services to promote the welfare of children and protect them from harm.
What to do if you need some advice and support
The School are able to offer advice and support to families who are experiencing difficulties, this may involve sign posting to other services, such as housing, children’s social care, arts therapy to name but a few.
