SPANISH DAY

At STOC we are dedicating this day to the language of SPANISH and its cultures not only in Spain but in all the Spanish speaking Countries!

Spain and the rest of the Spanish countries are widely known for their cheerful music and dance, delicious food, fantastic beaches and lots of sunshine. However, they have a lot more to offer than that.

The Spanish and Latin American artists, whose works fill our pages are famous throughout the world such as Fernando Botero form Colombia, Frida Kahlo from Mexico, Roberto Mamani Mamani from Bolivia and Spanish painters like Velázquez, Goya, Picasso, Dalí and Miró for their canvases.

All these Spanish artists are known in artistic circles around the world. They are and remain the international ambassadors of Spanish art culture. These artists' works are exhibited both in their own countries and museums and in international exhibits.

Spanish speaking people from all different countries love to share and cherish their free time and social lives along with their particular and local customs and traditions with friends and families, this represents a key part of their Spanish and Latin culture. People often meet with friends in big groups to enjoy the good weather while sipping on their favourite beverage or walking just strolling around while chatting everything; football, politics, family life, work, fashion, celebrities or television.

The children were asked to come into school in the colours of the Spanish speaking country they were looking at during the day:

Y1 Argentina

Y2 Peru

Y3 Colombia

Y4 Mexico

Y5 Bolivia

Y6 Spain

Wow! What a wonderful turnout for our Spanish Day!  The children had a fabulous day learning about Spanish culture and carrying out various activities, including making Magdalenas (cupcakes), drawing, colouring, singing and dancing. Thank you to Mrs Lovett for organising a fun day!
