April 13th, 2016

The Mitcham Cluster Year 3/4 Football Competition took place at Harris Academy, Merton on Wednesday 13 April 2016.  Seven teams from the cluster took part in the competition.  As we arrived on a beautiful Wednesday morning, the enthusiasm bursting out of the teams was impossible to miss.

Our first game against Stanford was an equally close match, with both teams having some shots on goal but none of them able to hit the back of the net.  Luckily we caught Stanford on the counter attack and we were able to keep our cool and score a very skillful goal.  Our next game was against Bond, where a very high standard of football was played with both teams extremely determined to secure a second win.  Bond went ahead after a few minutes, however, we did not let this deter us as we came back to equalise, ending the game in a 1-1 draw.  The next few rounds of matches saw ourselves and Bond storm ahead, both winning  the remainder of our games with both teams’ star strikers scoring some incredible goals!

Once all the games had been played, all the team gathered eagerly to find out the final results and to see who would be crowned the Mitcham Cluster Year 3/4 Football Best Team Champions!  There was a tie in the first place meaning it came down to goal difference, and there were only two goals in it … UNLUCKILY for us Bond had piped us to the post; but we came a magnificent second.

The whole team was a credit to our school;  the sportsmanship, playing ability and behaviour.

WELL DONE!!!! Roll on next year!
